A healthy homemade blender ice cream made using bananas, peanut butter, pure vanilla and unsweetened almond milk. This is the perfect healthy treat for all ages, including toddlers.

Ice cream!! I mean who doesn’t like ice cream? From its creamy texture and sweet taste, there is so much to love. However, it also comes with a lot of added sugar. This is where homemade blender ice cream came to life.

I love to give Everly treats. I like to keep them healthy most of the time, and of course, enjoy some sugar sometimes too! But, not all the time.

While trying to ponder a healthy snack recipe for her, bananas looked me in the eye and some soon to expire unsweetened almond milk – BOOM! I thought let’s try something new…. homemade ice cream.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE BLENDER ICE CREAM

A few simple steps to a tasty treat.

Like always around here I am about simple. All you need for this blender ice cream recipe, is a blender, and a muffin tin.

Simply blend together all the ingredients until well combined, evenly add to your muffin tins, freeze, and serve. Bonus, this homemade ice cream is already perfectly portioned thanks to the muffin tins.

WHAT GOES IN BLENDER ICE CREAM

Four simple ingredients.

To make homemade healthy blender ice cream you only need four ingredients, keeping things easy and healthy. You will need:

  • Bananas
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • Peanut Butter
  • Pure Vanilla Extract (Optional)

MAKING HEALTHY BLENDER ICE CREAM USING ALMOND MILK

Instead of heavy creams.

You will see that we used unsweetened almond milk to make this healthy blender ice cream. You can also use full-fat coconut milk. You want to make sure that you are using milk that is thick enough to help give the ice cream that creamy texture.

HOW DO YOU MAKE ICE CREAM AT HOME

Keep it simple.

This recipe almost reminds me of a chunky monkey smoothie, but frozen! Making homemade ice cream at home is easy, blend up your ingredients and freeze! Once you are ready to serve this healthy blender ice cream treat, remove it from the freezer for about 10-15 minutes before serving.

HOW TO STORE HOMEMADE ICE CREAM

Keep it chilled until ready to serve.

Storing homemade ice cream is EASY! Just make some room in your freezer, make it all one portion by using a loaf pan or simply pre-portion them into individual servings that are ready to serve.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Additional Time 3 hours
Total Time 3 hours 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup of peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine everything into a blender, blend on high for 1 min. Remove, shake the mixture and blend for another 2 minutes.
  2. Pour mixture evenly into muffin tins, freezer 2-3 hours. remove from freezer for 10 mins, remove ice creams from muffin tins, package in a large Ziploc bag for storage.

Notes

*You can also freeze this mixture for a minimum of 3 hours in a loaf pan and scoop and serve.
