New Year, New Me, Same Me

With each new year, nothing changes but the way I view or do things. I will always be the same “me”, but focus on different things to help me become a better person!

New Year, New Me?

New Year, New Me… Over the years I know one thing that hasn’t changed, ME! I am still me! This got me thinking, what does “New Year, New Me” mean?

While I still don’t really have an answer, but I know one thing for sure, I have never changed. What has changed are things in my life. The way I do things. The way I approach things. The way I say things. Becoming more positive, healthier, present, etc. As for me, I am still the same!

Those of you who say “new me”, in what ways have you changed?

Presence

This is my word for the year, presence! With a new year, a new decade, I wanted to start 2020 off strong! This is huge for me as I try and find a balance with motherhood while living a healthy and fit lifestyle and running a home-based business. Mamma’s I know you can relate; time is something that is hard to come by some days when your child’s needs always come before you! However, there are still ways to find a balance to have some “me” time, and still, be present as the best dang mom/spouse!

My number one focus is caring for my little lady and being the best wife that I can be to my husband {with that being said, being a new mom, trying to be the best wife like I used to be is hard… I’ll save that for another post}! Being present with them is where the word presence for this year came to mind. But at the same time, I want to be more present in my business. I have some big goals set for this year, and the only way to achieve them is to work hard. In doing so, it will take time and dedication.

How?

How is this doable? Many people have come to me and ask how I do it. Here is a quick answer, I do things that fill me up first when I have “me” time. Some of those things include personal development, exercise, meal prep, showering, plugging into my businesses, massages etc. These are in no particular order. The order is based on how much or what I got done the day before, and how much I got done in the morning. Speaking of mornings my goal this year to wake before baby to enjoy “me” time.

Setting a timer or time blocking is also huge for me. It is important to use your time wisely. For me setting a timer to complete a certain task in a certain amount of time is a great way to help hold me accountable.

While my sink may be piled high with dishes, laundry loads waiting for me by the handfuls to be folded… these things can wait, my spouse can help and finding time for “me” is doable! Some days are focused on household chores versus business activities, vice versa.

I have also blocked in some time throughout the next few months and year to work away from home at my favourite coffee shop, to ensure that I get things done to help me be more present in my business!

You Got This

If you are reading this and you aren’t a working mom, but you struggle to find time for yourself, know that you can make time for that relaxing bath, that spa treatment, etc. YOU deserve it, mamma! Being a mom is hard work, and I think it is important that we reward ourselves with things we enjoy!

Waking up an hour before the baby is a great way to get something done or enjoy hot coffee before mommy duties kick in.

Last year is in the rear view, make the best of this year!

What’s one of your favourite things to do?
