Winter Bucket List

Fun winter family activities to help get through the winter blues. Fun ideas to be had by all during the cold winter season by creating a fun bucket list.

Winter

I once wrote a poem about winter in Grade 5 that got published in a book. The poem went like this;

Winter is white.
Winter is cold.
Winter is fun, even for the old.
Some like to skate
Some like to ski-doo.
Some like to ski, how about you?

It is so easy to get caught up in the winter blues, especially here in Northern Alberta, where temperatures get as low as -50 Celcius. I think it is important to make the best of the nice days that we have. I thought it would be fun to put together a list of activities and turn it into a little bucket list to make sure I follow through with them.

I know living here in Northern Alberta, where the days are short, and winters are freezing it can be tiring and lonely, so why not make the best of it.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming Lessons is one activity I will be signing Everly and I up for. Growing up my parents were very adamant that both myself and my brother knew how to swim. Not only that, but we also went on to become lifeguards.

This is a great activity to get out of the house for a few hours and enjoy some splash time, learn a new skill, and have some fun with friends. I am so excited to register her for swimming in the New Year!

Travel Somewhere Warm

Travelling is something we cannot wait to experience with Everly. I think one way to help get through and over the winter blues is vacationing away to get some vitamin D!

We are looking to do Florida this year. There will be nothing but relaxation, sunshine, pool/beach and family time! And of course, some shopping too!

Skating

Skating is something we always enjoy! This year we hope to get Everly to the rink, of course not on skates, but in her sleigh! When we have nice winter days we do our best to try and get outside and enjoy them! We are very lucky to have a skating rink in our neighbourhood that is within walking distance!

Weekend Getaway

There is nothing like getting out of town on a weekend when a cold snap sets in. We always seem to head to the city for a weekend away and enjoy indoor activities like shopping, dining at new restaurants, indoor swimming etc.

It is also nice to get away and enjoy winter activities like skiing, sliding or skating. It’d be nice to get Everly to the Rockies during the winter. I love visiting Banff, Alberta this time of year… actually any time of year! It is breathtaking looking at the Rocky Mountains!
