Bump Update

Halfway mark bump update, pregnancy cravings, and more!

HALFWAY THERE BUMP UPDATE

I cannot believe that we are halfway there. Halfway to meeting our sweet little babe.

I’ve gotten a lot of questions on how my pregnancy has been? So, here’s a bump update.

It has been amazing, honestly! The best experience of my life. The first trimester was a little tough, as my body adjusted. However, I was not sick, thankfully. Just nauseated, which I can handle.

Pin it here!

Finding out we were pregnant was a complete shock. My reaction was literally me talking to myself in the mirror after seeing the positive on the test, asking myself if this could be real. If you’ve read my previous post, you’d know that we struggled to conceive.

I knew something was up, because I had zero energy, and I was in bed by 6 pm for a few nights leading up to taking our first pregnancy test of 2019.

I remember waking on January 4th, a Friday and immediately taking a test. This time I did it completely different than the rest. My acupuncturist suggested I take a test when she read my temps that I have been tracking with my Tempdrop on my app at an appointment the night before.

This time when I took the test I peed in a plastic cup and dipped the stick in. The first time, I ever tried it that way. As I set the timer to wait for the results… the results started to appear. I ignored what I saw, and thought it may just be me “seeing” things. The timer rang and the results remained the same!

I had butterflies and tears, you name it.

NOT SO TASTY

Here are a few fun facts… I consider coffee a food group, haha! And I actually love veggies.

Guess what? Both of these things, I couldn’t stomach. I mean, like the smell of coffee turned my stomach, and the site of any veggies made me very nauseated. Sometimes trips to the grocery stores were challenging, trying to get through the produce department, haha. I was in total shock and thought how could this be happening?

It wasn’t until my second trimester that I actually felt myself again. Coffee is tasting great {don’t worry I am not going above my limit, and I drink water like it’s going to never come back}, and the veggies are tastier than ever before.

During much of my first trimester, I ate a lot of Cheese, English Muffins, and Peanut Butter. I love PB, and cheese, glad I could still tolerate those foods.

There were days where I’d eat a full sleeve of English Muffins a day, haha. It was all I was eating, for every meal/snack.

I had two really odd cravings during the first trimester, tater poutine and a milkshake. I only had poutine twice and a milkshake once. It’s like once I was satisfied, I moved on.

So far during my second trimester, I am really enjoying BLT’s, Peaches, Cheese, Peanut Butter and from time to time, cookies. And most recently Ice Cream. I have to admit I haven’t had any serious cravings, so I am taking advantage of the healthier cravings while I can.

During the first trimester, it was much harder to get in my workouts. There were a lot of days I’d hit play and just couldn’t finish. I know how important it is to listen to your body, so I did just that. I napped when I needed it and just took it easy.

However, now that I am feeling myself again, I got right back into my home workouts, like I never left. Honestly, exercise always made me feel amazing. But, being pregnant and getting a good workout in, totally gives me more energy.

I aim to exercise 4-5 times a week. I always knew exercise, in general, was important, but even more so during pregnancy. Of course, that’s if you are able to stay active. My doctor always says at my appointments, “keep exercising and eating healthy… keep doing what you are doing”. The two things I don’t really struggle with thankfully. I mean my nutrition isn’t perfect, but I live the 80/20 balance, and it works.

So for now, I am going to take advantage of feeling this good. The third trimester will be here before you know it, and so will the hot summers. It’ll be a whole new experience I’m sure.

How was your pregnancy? What were your cravings?
