It’s Okay If You Don’t Like Cardio

Cardio isn’t for everyone, but it is important to get that heart rate up. Staying active is key, so find something you enjoy! Check out these three tips!

CARDIO

I am that one who will turn to you and say, “yeah, don’t put me down for cardio”… just like the famous words of Fat Amy in Pitch Perfect.

Anyone else feel me?

If you follow me on Instagram or you follow my Facebook page, you know that I enjoy exercise and living an active lifestyle. Nothing beats a good run {outside of course or on the running track} or a spin class. Now, outside of that… you can count me OUT of all other cardio workouts.

I’ve tried to get myself to enjoy cardio circuits, but it takes everything in me to not want to punch the wall or floor, haha! #truthbomb101

And running on the treadmill is the most boring thing I’ve ever done. I’ve tried turning on Netflix, or a TV show, and I still find myself looking at the time, counting down, and getting frustrated.

Since starting my health and wellness journey here are a few things that I’ve learned:

1] If you don’t like something, then don’t do it. you will get completely discouraged and very likely give up.

2] Try a variation of workouts, programs or fitness classes to see what you enjoy. There are so many different fitness classes out there, home programs and more… take advantage of those resources.

3] DO or TRY something you told yourself that you’d never be able to do. You’d be surprised by how well you do and just how much you enjoy it!

I learned number 1 the hard way. I wanted so bad to reach my goals by going to the gym, doing cardio machines after cardio machine and not getting results. Dragging myself there because it felt like a chore… it was brutal and I got nowhere.

Number is how I found what I enjoyed. And I enjoy weight training. After weight training, I feel so strong, confident and beautiful. This coming from a girl who was afraid to lift heavy because she didn’t want to get bulky imagine that. Oh, if only I knew then, what I know now… I LOVE tossing some weights around, toning and increasing my muscle mass. #hellopostworkouthigh

Well number 3, running. Yep, running! I never thought I’d be a runner or enjoy running as much as I do. I love the runners high I get and I love the challenge of training. I never thought I’d enjoy an activity like running, EVERNow, I am making a bucket list of half marathons, marathons, and races I wanna take on in the future!

YOU guys, life is so short and precious. Eat the cake, stay active doing what you enjoy and focus on portion!

What are some of your favourite ways to stay active? I know, cardio is important… find something that gets your moving and grooving!
